PacketBrief is a static informational site, and we collect as little as possible. This page explains what that means in practice. It was last reviewed in September 2026.

What we collect

We do not require you to create an account or provide personal information to read anything here. If you subscribe to our change-log email, we store the address you give us solely to send that email, and you can unsubscribe at any time. Our web host processes standard server logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and reliability, as almost all websites do.

Analytics and cookies

We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which briefs are useful, and we avoid intrusive tracking. We do not sell personal data. If we use cookies, they are limited to what is needed for the site to function and to measure traffic in aggregate.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links. When you click one, the destination provider may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. See our affiliate disclosure for how those links work.
